KAREN BOLEY COUNSELLING · DELTA, BC
You are capable of change and self-empathy. Challenges are unavoidable, but you can get support for navigating rough seas. Whether you want to learn more about yourself, improve overall well-being, manage past experiences, or discover other ways of living, I am happy to work with you as you create the life you want.

My first career was in education, and I have taught infants through adults across three countries. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on ways to build strong families and manage the challenges of life transitions. I offer support for depression, anxiety, burnout, and postpartum issues as well as couples counselling. In addition, my time working in healthcare research and disability advocacy has also prompted me to attune to the needs of people with neurodivergence and other exceptionalities.
I truly value diverse perspectives and am committed to providing inclusive, culture-affirming, and neuro-affirming care. My eclectic approach utilizes elements of CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and person-centred care while considering clients’ contexts.
I want to walk alongside you as we respond to the conditions of our changing world. My mission is to help you live according to your values within the many groups you belong to. Your family, career, community, and environment create both challenges and opportunities. You will be met with compassion, empathy, and hope for the future

Every journey begins with a conversation. Book a free 20-minute phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. No commitment, just a warm hello.
I offer individual and couples counselling for clients ages 16 and up. Couples counselling isn’t limited to romantic relationships. It can support any two people seeking to strengthen their connection, including partners, family members, friends, or colleagues. Some of the areas I support include:

Anxiety

Stress & Burnout

Life Transitions

ADHD/Neurodivergence

Perinatal

Low Self-Esteem

OCD

Family Strain

Couples Counselling

Depression

Cultural Conflicts

Premarital

Please note that as part of neuro-affirming counselling, neurodivergence is not viewed as a problem in need of solving. Instead, we will work together to identify your strengths and advocate for your needs. I want you to be the decision-maker in how you receive care and in the creation of your goals. I do my best to adjust the counselling environment to account for sensory needs and the kind of interactions you prefer. A lifetime of masking and trying to conform to societal norms can greatly increase the risk of mental health challenges, but I believe that those challenges are not inherently part of neurodivergence.
